How to use SnapCap

  1. Keep your iPhone nearby and unlocked.
  2. Press ⌃⌥⌘T (Control-Option-Command-T), or click the SnapCap icon in the menu bar. The camera opens on your iPhone.
  3. Take the photo. It appears in the bottom-right corner of your screen. Drag it into any app, or click it to open it.

Common questions

The camera doesn’t open on my iPhone

I have more than one iPhone or an iPad

Right-click the menu bar icon and choose Camera. Automatic uses an iPhone first. You can also pick a specific device.

The shortcut doesn’t work

Another app may already use ⌃⌥⌘T. You can still click the menu bar icon.

Where are my photos?

In the SnapCap folder in your Pictures folder. Right-click the menu bar icon and choose Open SnapCap Folder. Your three most recent photos are also listed in that menu.

How do I stop photos being copied to the clipboard?

Right-click the menu bar icon and turn off Options › Copy Photo to Clipboard.

How does the free trial work?

Every feature is free for 7 days. After that, taking new photos requires a one-time purchase. There is no subscription. Photos you already took stay in your Pictures folder either way.

I bought SnapCap but it asks me to buy again

Right-click the menu bar icon, choose Buy SnapCap…, and click Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you used to buy it.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
